FAQs
Your safety is our top priority and whilst riding a Segway is extremely safe when used properly, it may at first feel unnatural to have a machine holding your balance for you. For this reason all riders are given a 15 minute safety briefing where you will be shown how to mount, ride, steer, stop and dismount your Segway safely. If you do not follow the guidance and instructions given to you during this training session you could fall and injure yourself or someone else. For your own protection safety helmets will be provided and must be worn. Anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to participate.
You need to be at least 10 years old 52" tall and between 7 stone and 18 stone in weight to ride safely. Please see the FAQ section for more details. Segways are permitted for use on Douglas Promenade walkway outside of the cycle lane and designated forests and beaches on the Island. Pedestrians have the right of way over Segways and Segway riders must give way to pedestrians at all times. At night Segways are fitted with rear and forward facing lights.
Whilst Segways are safe when used within the guidelines outlined in the safety demonstration, we cannot predict every riders actions. Riders who act recklessly or without due care and attention for other users and members of the public will have their tour suspended. Our terms and conditions state that all riders must sign a disclaimer prior to taking part to ensure they are aware of the potential dangers and agree to take responsibility for their actions. Therefore, if you do not sign the disclaimer on the day, you will not be allowed to participate.
